Privacy Policy

Tempo Kit (“we,” “our,” or “the extension”) is a browser extension for supported Chromium-based browsers, published under the Tempo Kit/Crescendo Companion name. It provides practice tools for musicians, including a metronome, chromatic tuner, timer, stopwatch, mini control drawers, and video practice tools for YouTube, Bilibili, other video pages you choose to connect, and your own local audio/video files. This Privacy Policy explains the data Tempo Kit handles, why it is handled, who it is shared with, and how you can contact us.

Tempo Kit is designed to keep practice data on your device and to avoid collecting more information than is needed to provide the extension, Pro access, payments, and support. We do not operate analytics, advertising, or practice-data collection servers for the extension.

• No analytics or usage tracking
• No cookies in the extension
• No advertising or marketing trackers
• No user accounts managed by us
• No practice library, microphone audio, tab audio, video-site audio, or local files are sent to our servers

Tempo Kit stores the settings and practice data you choose to save in your browser profile. This storage is used to run the extension, restore your preferences, and keep your practice library available in the browser.

Small preferences, such as theme, language, tempo, sound, timer, and display settings, may use synced browser extension storage. If browser sync is enabled, your browser provider may sync those preferences to your other signed-in browser profiles.

Practice library data stays in device-local browser extension storage. This includes folders, presets, practice notes, saved video practice profiles, loop points, speed, transpose, and related practice settings. This data is not sent to a Tempo Kit server.

Tempo Kit also keeps a minimal local Pro-status cache returned by ExtensionPay so the extension can show your purchase status. Payment card numbers, CVV, billing address, invoices, and transaction history are not stored by Tempo Kit.

You can clear extension-stored data by uninstalling Tempo Kit or clearing extension data from your browser's extension settings page.

Tempo Kit requests microphone access solely for the chromatic tuner feature. When you use the tuner:

• Audio from your microphone is processed locally in real-time for pitch detection
• Audio is never recorded
• Audio is never stored
• Audio is never transmitted to any server or third party

Microphone access is only active while the tuner is in use. You can revoke microphone permissions at any time through your browser's site settings.

Tempo Kit uses the browser's tabCapture permission for two features: BPM detection and real-time pitch shifting on video pages you practice with. When either feature runs:

• Audio from the tab is analyzed or pitch-shifted locally in real-time
• Audio is never recorded
• Audio is never stored
• Audio is never transmitted to any server or third party

Tab audio capture is only active while BPM detection or pitch shifting is running, and stops when you stop the feature, navigate away, or close the tab.

The local file player lets you open an audio or video file from your device and practice with it. Your files are handled with the same local-first rules as everything else:

• Files are played and processed entirely on your device
• Files are never uploaded to us or any third party
• Files are never written to extension storage or any database
• The file reference is held only in the player tab's memory and is released automatically when you load a different file, eject it, or close the tab

Presets may save your practice settings (speed, pitch, loop points) but never the file itself.

Pro subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe as its payment processor. Tempo Kit does not collect, store, or have access to your payment card number, CVV, billing address, or any financial data. The payment form is hosted entirely on ExtensionPay's and Stripe's secure servers — never inside the extension.

After a purchase or restore flow, Tempo Kit receives only the limited account status needed to provide Pro access:

• Your purchase email address, when provided by ExtensionPay, so the extension can show which email is active for Pro
• Your current paid status, used to unlock Pro features after ExtensionPay verification

This information is used for purchase, restore, subscription management, support, and entitlement checks. Pro access is verified through ExtensionPay and is not granted by trusting editable browser storage.

This website does not use analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or cookies. The website may store a local theme preference in your browser so the site remembers light or dark mode.

Like most websites, the hosting provider for this site may process standard technical request data, such as IP address, user agent, referring page, requested URL, and timestamps, for hosting, security, debugging, and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not use that data to build user profiles or target ads.

We may use Google Search Console to view aggregate search and indexing information for this website. Search Console does not add cookies, pixels, or client-side scripts to this site.

If you email us for support or use the mailto support form, we will receive the information you choose to include, such as your name, email address, purchase email, device/browser details, screenshots, messages, or video URLs related to the support request.

Tempo Kit does not sell personal information, share personal information for targeted advertising, or transfer user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.

We share information only when needed to provide the service you request, such as payment and entitlement handling through ExtensionPay and Stripe; when you ask for support; when needed for security or abuse prevention; when required by law; or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Tempo Kit uses Chromium extension APIs only to provide or improve the extension features described in the extension and Chrome Web Store listing. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Tempo Kit does not sell extension user data, use it for advertising, transfer it to advertising platforms, or allow human review of extension data except when you ask for support, when needed for security or abuse prevention, or when required by law.

Tempo Kit requests browser extension permissions only for user-facing features:

• storage saves settings, presets, notes, saved video practice profiles, and minimal ExtensionPay status cache
• tabs helps find the video tab you are practicing with
• YouTube and Bilibili host access and scripting allow Tempo Kit to connect its controls to supported video pages
• Other sites are optional: Tempo Kit only gains access to another site when you click Connect there and approve the browser's permission prompt for that site. You can remove a site's access at any time from your browser's extension settings.
• activeTab lets the Connect flow work with the page you are viewing when you invoke Tempo Kit
• tabCapture and offscreen process tab audio locally for BPM detection and pitch shifting
• sidePanel displays the Tempo Kit interface in the browser side panel

Tempo Kit is designed to minimize the data we hold. Practice data stays in browser extension storage, microphone and tab audio are processed locally, and payment card data is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe rather than by Tempo Kit. Network requests for Pro verification are made over HTTPS.

No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your browser profile, operating system account, and device secure.

Tempo Kit includes third-party libraries that run inside the extension to provide app features. These libraries do not receive personal information from Tempo Kit.

Tempo Kit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through support email or a payment flow, contact us and we will help address the request with the relevant provider where needed.

Practice settings and library data remain in your browser profile until you delete them, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. Synced browser settings may remain in your browser account according to your browser sync settings.

• To remove extension-stored settings and library data: uninstall the extension or clear extension data in your browser
• Support emails are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond to your request, maintain support history, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit certain personal information we can identify with you. For Tempo Kit, that usually means purchase or support information, such as your purchase email and support messages. Practice data is stored in your browser profile and is usually controlled directly from your browser.

To make a privacy request, email crescendocompanion@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request, may direct you to ExtensionPay or Stripe for payment data they control, and may keep limited records when allowed or required for security, transactions, support history, legal obligations, or dispute prevention.

Tempo Kit does not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. If applicable law gives you additional privacy rights, we will handle your request as required by that law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
